Two formulas are required for spectroscopy.

$c = \lambda v$

  • $c = 3 \times 10^8 \text{ m/s}$
  • $\lambda = \text{ wavelength (m)}$
  • $v = \text{ frequency(s^-1 or Hz)}$

$E = hv$

  • $E = \text{ Energy per Quantum (J)}$1)
